Barley Wood Summer Styled shoot

On a beautiful sunny day in early May a local team of wedding suppliers from the village of Backwell in North Somerset near Bristol, collaborated to create a styled bridal shoot, with the theme based around the Pantone colour of the year “living coral”.

“An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge” pantone.

There is a wonderful selection of flowers to choose from during May from this palette as we transition from spring to Summer. Namely Ranunculus which are still available until early June in beautiful peachy, orange tones and stunning coral charm peonies emerging, blended with blush tones the effect is eye catching, elegant and luxurious.

Barley Wood House was the venue, a beautiful eighteenth-century country house set within 11 acres of landscaped gardens and woods. A stunning countryside setting located on the edge of the village of Wrington in rural North Somerset, with views across to the Mendip hills. A venue that allows you to make your wedding personal to you.

The Floral Pieces

3 different floral arrangements were created to illustrate how coral tones can be used – a bouquet full of luxurious David Austin roses, and peonies blended with the muted tones of ranunculus, cappuccino rose & blush stocks with texture from astilbie, asparagus fern and a variety of soft foliage’s. A second bouquet featured the same David Austin roses but was arranged with protea, a tropical very striking flowers native to South Africa with subtle tones of coral. Peach spray rose were also blended in this mix with ranunculus.

The 3rd floral piece was the increasingly popular floral hoop – this look can lend itself to a boho, rustic or contemporary themed wedding depending on the material of the hoop and flowers/foliages used, for this particular theme a copper hoop was chosen to blend with a striking copper feature arch. A display such as this is perfect to create a floral feature at the top of an aisle or behind the top table and can be adapted very easily to fit a particular theme. Foliage only, full flower or just a few small floral arrangement’s, it can be adapted to work with different budgets and the opportunity for a stunning feature during a wedding but without the high cost of a full floral archway.
